Unusual Two-Gallon Manganese-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Brushed and Incised Dates, Stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va," 1877, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, decorated with brushed reddish-brown tulip flanking the date "1877". Additionally incised on shoulder with the date "1877" underscored by an inscription, possibly "Inside". Restored top-to-bottom crack from rim. Small rim chip.
