One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Clover Decoration, Baltimore, Maryland, origin, circa 1865, cylindrical form with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated on both sides with a cobalt two-stemmed clover design. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curved line of cobalt under each handle. Rim chips. Hairlines on underside, one of which continues 2 3/4" onto base. A 1 3/4" in-the-firing separation line on interior of collar.
