Rare Rockingham-Glazed Spittoon, Stamped "E.L. FARRAR / BURLINGTON, VT.," mid 19th century, molded circular form with relief acanthus leaf decoration and brown-glazed surface. Underside impressed with E.L. Farrar maker's mark. Provenance: Found decades ago in the northeastern U.S. A 1 1/2" rim chip, two other colored rim chips, and other small rim chips. A flake on underside, possibly in-the-firing. Some long in-the-firing contact marks at base, which have been colored. Other minor base chips. Thin cracks to interior, emanating from opening, with coloring to two cracks. A small colored flake to top surface. H 3 5/8" ; D 8 1/8".
