Redware Plate with Yellow Slip Bird Decoration, Matawan, New Jersey origin, circa 1840, with coggled edge, the interior decorated with a long-tailed bird with ringed neck and spotted body, perched on a leafy branch. Clear lead-glazed interior. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor twenty or thirty years ago. Wear to slip. Some additional small flakes to interior. Rim chips. Diameter 10 1/4".
