Scarce Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H B PFALTZGRAFF / YORK PA," circa 1870-1889, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed design of a tulip plant bearing two blossoms and an unusual cross-shaped foliate design at the base of the stem. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Missing handle. Otherwise excellent condition with a worn spot near base on reverse.
