Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Deer Decoration, Stamped "T. HARRINGTON / LYONS," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a deer with spotted body and large rack, cantering atop a stylized ground flanked by shrubs. Slip-trailed "2" to right of deer. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Large, glazed-over flake to base on front. A few minor base chips. 1 1/2" x 7/8" rim chip on reverse. Rim chip on side of jar. Some light wear to top of rim. Chips to interior of rim. Stone ping on underside.
