Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," Virginia origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, decorated with splashes of green and brown over a cream-colored slip ground. Desirable form, glaze, and maker. Essentially as-made condition with some in-the-firing glaze spalling to surface, in-the-firing dryness to rim, and three large chips to underside, probably in-the-firing contact marks. H 7 1/8".
