Two Pieces of Stoneware, Stamped "D. ROBERTS / UTICA," New York State origin, circa 1827-1830, a six-gallon ovoid jar with cobalt floral decoration and cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and handle terminals, stamped "VI" under one handle; paired with a two-gallon jug with brushed floral motif and cobalt-highlighted maker's mark. A scarce New York State maker's mark. Six-gallon jar with significant exfoliation, rim chips, a 2" hairline from rim, a minor, in-the-firing separation in one handle terminal, and a few iron pings. Jug missing handle, with two contact marks to front.
