Scarce Small-Sized Stoneware Table Churn with Cobalt Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1870, cylindrical churn with tall flaring collar and applied tab handles, decorated with brushed swags on the front and reverse. Additional cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Desirable size. A pre-firing chip on one handle is brushed over with heavy cobalt. Tight fork-shaped lines on underside, a few sections of which continue onto base area of churn. Rim chips. H 9 3/8".
