One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA / D.C.," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1835, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder, stepped spout, and applied strap handle, impressed with an H.C. Smith mark below a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity mark at shoulder. Excellent condition with a small in-the-firing chip to front, a few minor base chips, and some in-the-firing discoloration to clay.
