Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Star Decoration, Ohio River Valley origin, second quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied tab handles, and flattened rim, decorated with three freehand cobalt stars at the shoulder on the front and reverse. Heavy cobalt brushed over each handle. Rim chips, the largest measuring 1 3/8". Chips to both handles. Chipping to base. Very faint line on underside, continuing 1" onto base.
