MILLER, SON & CO. / ALEXANDRIA, VA" Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Stenciling, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar decorated with freehand stripes, a stenciled rising sun, and the stenciled advertising "E.J. MILLER, SON & CO. / IMPORTERS & WHOLESALE / DEALERS IN / QUEENSWARE. / CHINA, GLASSWARE / HOUSE FURNISHING GOOD / NO. 65 KING ST. / ALEXANDRIA. VA". Freehand cobalt "2" with flourish at base. A few in-the-firing rim chips, the largest measuring 1 1/2". A nick to shoulder molding.
