Three Great Road Redware Jars, Tennessee origin, 19th century, a scarce miniature ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and speckled lead-and-manganese-glazed interior, found in Sullivan County, TN, and possibly Cain Pottery; an unglazed ovoid jar with high-set, ribbed handles and lead-and-manganese-glazed interior; and an ovoid jar with tooled banding, semi-rounded rim, lead-and-manganese-glaze exterior and lead-glazed interior. Provenance: All found in Eastern Tennessee. Miniature jar with a few shallow rim chips. Handled jar was never glazed on the exterior, although the exterior has significant stable flaking to the clay body, and some flakes to the glaze on interior base. Glazed jar with base chips, small chips to interior of rim, and a small area of very minor wear to exterior of rim. H (of miniature jar) 3 1/8" ; H (of handled jar) 10 1/2".
