Large-Sized Stoneware Spittoon with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, PA or NJ origin, third quarter 19th century, with footed base, carved semi-circular opening at shoulder, and Albany-slip-glazed interior, decorated around the opening numerous cobalt spots flanked by two dotted tulips. Decorated around the body with six additional tulips. Hairlines emanating from carved opening at shoulder. A small chip to opening at shoulder. Two chips to circular opening on top surface. A minor chip and two tiny nicks to raised molding at base. D 10 1/2" ; H 6".
