Very Rare Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Manganese and Cobalt Decoration, Western PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with flattened rim, decorated with a stenciled foliate design, the upper scrolled section decorated with cobalt slip and remainder of the design decorated with purplish manganese slip. Midsection with stenciled manganese decoration resembling a star. Excellent size and very rare two-color decoration. 2" base chip on reverse. Otherwise excellent condition. H 6 5/16".
