Molded Stoneware Water Filter, Marked "THE ALLEN GERM PROOF FILTER TOLEDO, O.," attributed to the Whites Pottery, Utica, NY, late 19th century, cylindrical cooler with rounded base and rim decorated with raised foliate designs, the midsection with advertising for "THE ALLEN GERM PROOF FILTER," flanked by raised floral designs. Cobalt highlights throughout. Filter includes metal spigot, an L-shaped pipe-shaped attachment on interior, and an unusual metal lid with attached circular metal float. Excellent condition with some traces of old gold paint below rim. H 13 1/2".
