Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Apple Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a large brushed cobalt design of an apple with stem, flanked by cobalt slashes. Some roughness to spout, caused by kiln furniture residue. Some chipping to spout, some or all of which occurred during the firing. Jug has a rounded underside and does not sit perfectly flat.
