Fine Sgraffito Redware Plate with Federal Eagle Decoration, attributed to Jacob Medinger, Limerick Township, Montgomery County, PA, late 19th or early 20th century, featuring a Federal eagle holding olive branches in its talons, along with a banner extending from its beak, inscribed "Liberty". Additional sgraffito branch below eagle. Surface decorated with green and brown glazes over a cream-colored slip ground. Reportedly one of Medinger's earlier eagle motifs. Y-shaped crack from rim, which does not touch decoration. The left side of this crack extends partway around the left side of the eagle. The right side of crack is shorter and very thin. An additional minor 1/4" crack in rim. Minor spot of glaze loss to rim. Some staining to interior wall of plate. Small contact mark on interior, to right of banner. Diameter 7 3/4".
