Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "W.H. LEHEW & CO. / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, thin squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated on the front and back with a horizontal leafy stem bearing three tulip blossoms. A nicely-decorated example. Base chip. An additional chip and a few minor nicks to bottom edge on underside. 1 3/4" rim chip and a few other smaller rim chips. Two chips and a minor nick to one handle. Hairline near edge on underside, extending 4" up one side of jar.
