Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stylized Cobalt Turtle Decoration, Stamped "ADAM CAIRE / PO'KEEPSIE N Y," circa 1880, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decoratd with a large, slip-trailed cobalt design resembling a turtle with heavily-shaded shell surrounded by dotted circles and spots. A highly unusual folk art rendering. Some fry to spots of decoration, a few small rim chips, and a chip to one handle.
