One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "LYONS," New York State origin, mid 19th century, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a boldly-brushed cobalt tulip. Script cobalt "1" to left of decoration. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark and handle terminals. Includes salt-glazed lid. Lid with small rim chip and minor rim nick. Minor chip to end of one handle. Small glazed-over iron ping on front. Rim chips and a 7/8" shallow flake to reverse of rim. 1 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse. Several small chips to inner ledge where a lid sits.
