Rare and Fine Glazed Redware Jar with Combed Incising, probably Salem, Massachusetts, late 18th century, finely-potted, thin-walled jar with tapered shoulder and semi-squared rim, the exterior decorated with heavily-combed bands of incising, the surface covered in a mottled rust-colored glaze. Interior with creamy yellowish glaze. A delicately-crafted example of early Massachusetts redware. Large and smaller flakes to interior. Scattered small flakes to base. Some other minor spots of wear to rim and body. H 8 1/2".
