Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, fourth quarter 19th century, an eight-gallon cylindrical stoneware jar with freehand cobalt inscription "8 gal," underscored by stripes, Western PA or possibly Palatine, WV origin; paired with a one-gallon jar with stenciled floral motif, stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES / GREENSBORO, PA". Eight-gallon jar with significant cracks in underside, continuing onto base, including some loose pieces that need to be glued, as well as a tiny hole in underside. Other jar with rim chip on reverse and 5 1/2" crack from rim on reverse, as well as a small chip to bottom edge of rim.
