Rare Stoneware Butter Crock with Philadelphia Advertising, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with leafy brushwork surrounding the cobalt-highlighted advertising "MADE FOR / WRIGHT SMITH & PEARSALL / NO 5 NORTH 5 ST / PHILADELPHIA". Brushed cobalt leaves on reverse. Restored crack from rim on reverse, extending onto underside. Additional hairlines and coloring on underside.
