Scarce Multi-Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON / STRASBURG," VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with rounded rim, the surface decorated with heavy daubs of green and brown over a cream-colored slip ground. Impressed with S. BELL & SON maker's mark below rim. Some exfoliation to surface and rim. Cracks on underside extending onto base. Flakes to clay on interior base area. H 8 5/8".
