Scarce One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird and Floral Decoration, Stamped "L LEHMAN & CO. / WEST 12 ST N Y," third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an artistically-rendered design of a bird with turned head and striped body, perched on a plant bearing two large flowers. Nice, small-sized jar with visually-appealing decoration. Crack to top of one handle, with chip to one and wear to opposite end of same handle. 3 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. Rim chip on side of jar with 2 1/8" line extending downward from it. A few small chips on interior of rim. Wear to interior of rim where a lid would rest.
