Rare Four-Gallon Washington, D.C. Stoneware Advertising Jar with Freehand Vine Design, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, stenciled "E. LULLEY / 616 / PENN / AVE. / WASHINGTON / D.C.," across the middle. Jar is decorated with finely-executed freehand vining at the shoulder and freehand stripes at the rim, shoulder, and base. Tight 9" hairline on front. Y-shaped hairline on underside, continuing 2 1/4" onto base. Minor chips to one handle.
