Unusual Pottery Cream Jar, Signed "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO," circa 1860, ovoid jar with squared rim, tooled shoulder, and glazed interior. This jar was likely intended to be a piece of redware. However, it received enough heat in the firing to produce a vitrified, stoneware-like clay body. Y-shaped hairline on underside, connecting to a Y-shaped hairline at base. Short hairline from rim. A few minor nicks to underside of rim. H 7 1/4".
