Unusual Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Stenciled Eagle and Flag Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a finely-stenciled flying eagle holding an American flag in its talons. Large stenciled "6" surrounded by a sunburst at shoulder. Crisp stenciling and excellent color. In-the-firing chip to one handle. 7" tight X-shaped line on reverse. Light wear to one handle. H 15 3/4".
