Stoneware Whiskey Jug, Mid-Atlantic origin, possibly William Ernest, Washington, D.C., last quarter 19th century, cylindrical jug with rounded spout and Albany slip glaze, featuring the highly unusual impressed advertising "OLD BACHELORS CLUB / PURE RYE WHISKEY / PUT UP BY / THOS. GRAY & SON / ANACOSTIA D.C.". Handle broken and reglued. Otherwise excellent condition. H 7 3/4".
