Fine Glazed Redware Dog Bank, attributed to George Wagner, Carbon Co., PA, circa 1860, in the form of a seated dog with impressed eyes and incised muzzle, the head, neck, and tail tip, covered in heavy clay coleslaw. Surface decorated with streaks of copper and manganese over a yellowish ground, and covered in a clear lead. An excellent, nicely-colored example. Excellent condition. 7/8" x 1/4" area on top of head lacking coleslaw, though it is unclear how much of this damage actually occurred after the dog was made. Typical chips to tips of coleslaw. Base chip. Small mouth chip. H 6 7/8".
