Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Floral Decoration, Stamped "C.E. PHARIS & CO. / GEDDES. N.Y.," circa 1864-1867, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, decorated with an elaborate brushed and slip-trailed cobalt floral design featuring eight flower buds. Provenance: Lynn White Collection, Readfield, ME. Fry to cobalt. 5 1/2" in-the-firing separation on underside. Small stone ping on reverse. 3 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse. Hairlines on underside, as well as a thin crack on underside, which extends 8" up side of crock under one handle. H 11 1/8".
