One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Swag Decoration, Stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, tall collar, and semi-squared rim, decorated with brushed cobalt swags on the front and back. 8" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim, with part of crack extending 10 1/2" around side of jar. Rim chips, minor base chips, and rust around shoulder where a make-do strap was once affixed. H 11 1/4".
