Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar, attributed to A. Keister & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1850, baluster-form jar with applied lug handles, decorated on both sides with a boldly-brushed tulip motif. Brushed 2 under one handle. Numerous small chips to rim, mostly on interior. 5 1/2" crack from rim. Small base chips. Vertical streak of in-the-firing dryness to right of one handle. 1 3/4" hairline on underside, extending 3 1/4" up side of jar from base. H 12 1/8".
