Extremely Rare Rustic Redware Flowerpot Saucer, Incised "A.W. Bacher," Winchester, VA origin, circa 1880, wheel-thrown saucer with heavily-crimped rim, the surface heavily incised to resemble tree bark. Bacher is known to have employed this decorative technique on his pottery, but it is considered very rare among his surviving work. Incised in large script on underside "A.W. Bacher." A previously undocumented example. 3" x 2 1/2" flake to interior, along with a very shallow 1 1/4" flake to interior. H 2" ; Diameter 12".
