Unusual One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. KEISTER & CO. / STRASBURG, VA.," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with squared rim and tooled shoulder, decorated with a cobalt triple-stroke swag design. Unusual decoration for this maker. Provenance: From a thirty-year VA collection. Two rim chips and some small rim nicks. Stone ping at base with lines extending from it, including a 5 1/2" horizontal line. Base chip. H 11 1/8".
