Rare Early Stoneware Jug with Incised Wreath, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN. WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1810, approximately two-gallon ovoid jug with heavily-tooled neck and semi-rounded spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted wreath surrounding a large cobalt-highlighted Clarkson Crolius, Sr., mark. Excellent decoration with heavy cobalt. Attached to the handle of this jug is a section of a 1930's delivery card from Israel Sack Antiques, 85-89 Charles St. Boston. Provenance: Sanford Smith, New York, New York. Spout chip. Crack and numerous lines extending up from base of jug. Some chipping to base. H 14".
