Fine English Pearlware "GR" Mug, Yorkshire or Staffordshire, circa 1780, ovoid mug with rounded foot and heavily-tooled collar, decorated with incised flower petals surrounding an applied "GR" medallion. Additional incised vines extend from this central design. Decoration and collar highlighted in cobalt slip. Some wear to ribbing on collar. Three small rim chips and a 1 1/4" line extending from rim. Three small handle chips and a hairline at base of handle. Small base chip, a few small base nicks, and a few minor glaze lines in underside. 1/2" applied piece of clay to side of jug, which adhered during the firing. H 5 3/8".
