Rare Glazed Redware Plate with Flying Swallow Decoration, PA origin, mid to late 19th century, decorated in manganese slip with a solid-bodied flying swallow, depicted with spread wings, hollow eye, and forked tail. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze. Pencil inscription on side reads "9300.281 From Hattie Bruenner." Scratch on interior. Old, minor rim chips. Spots of flaking to middle of underside, caused when plate was used for cooking. Diameter 8".
