Rare Glazed Redware Chicken Bank, probably PA origin, 19th century, hand-modeled bank in the form of a chicken seated on a circular base. Chicken is fashioned with a comb, whattle, fan-shaped tail, and heavily-incised feather detail. Surface of chicken decorated with whitish slip and daubs of blackish manganese, and coated in a clear lead glaze. Base decorated with green lead and copper glaze. Highly decorative form. Shallow chips and glaze wear. to base. Old 5/8" shallow flake to tail with other minor wear to tail. Chips to slot. H 6" ; Length 7 3/8".
