Scarce Shenandoah Valley Glazed Redware Jug, Stamped "BAECHER / WINCHESTER, VA," circa 1880, approximately one-half-gallon, cylindrical jug with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied strap handle, covered in a yellowish slip lead glaze over an orange ground. Lead-glazed surface. Impressed with Anthony Bacher maker's mark to right of handle. Chip and wear to base. Spots of glaze loss to surface. 1 3/4" firing flaw to shoulder with 2" line extending from it. In-the-firing separation lines to handle terminals. H 9 1/4".
