Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Large-Sized Chicken on Fence Decoration, New York State origin, circa 1875, straight-sided crock with rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a chicken with heavily-shaded body, perched on a fence above a grassy lawn. Outstanding large size to decoration. Three cracks from rim on front, measuring 6 1/2", 5", and 4". Restoration to left side of crock and part of reverse side of crock. Two additional hairlines from rim on reverse. Chips to interior of rim. Two hairlines from rim on reverse, measuring approximately 6" and 5 1/2". H 12 7/8".
