One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / Va," circa 1870, straight-sided jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, decorated with brushed cobalt swags around the shoulder. Crack at base with sliver out of it, measuring 3" on base of jar and 2" on underside of jar. 2 1/4" hairline at base. Additional 1" hairline at base, continuing 4 1/4" onto underside, and a 1" separation line at base, continuing 1" onto underside. Two base chips, one of which is glazed over. H 10 5/8".
