Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Presentation Plate, Clinton, NY origin, Dated 1824, decorated in cream, green, and brown colored slip with the inscription "Hariet / Ostrander / Dish made by / John B. Gregory / Clinton / 1824." This plate was made in Clinton, Oneida County, NY, by potter, John Betts Gregory, who was trained in Norwalk, Connecticut, by Absalom Day. Heavy wear to surface. Lines in surface, not visible on underside. Two shallow edge chips. Diameter 10 1/2".
