Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Double Rooster Decoration and the Date "1862" in Cobalt, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," large jug decorated in vibrant cobalt blue with two roosters perched on the branches of a flowering plant. Above the roosters is the date "1862" in slip-trailed cobalt, with an arching band of cobalt above. Maker's and capacity marks highlighted in cobalt. Outstanding decoration with excellent color. Near mint condition with a small flake off of handle (possibly in-the-making). Height 16 1/2".
