Scarce One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Ashland, KY Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1880, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring the stenciled advertising, "JOHN H. ZEIGLER / STAPLE AND / FANCY GROCERIES / ASHLAND. KY." Freehand stripes above and below. Essentially as-made condition with some light fry to cobalt. H 10 1/4".
