Extremely Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Lid, Stamped "LANDRUM," probably Pottersville Stoneware Manufactory, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1820-1830, small-sized lid with knob-shaped finial, the surface covered in a gray-to-light-brown alkaline glaze. Impressed in small type with the name, "LANDRUM." The only lid marked in this manner that we have seen, this piece was likely made at the Pottersville Stoneware Manufactory and impressed with the name of its founder, Abner Landrum. Other possibilities include it being made at the pottery of his brother, Reverend John Landrum, on Horse Creek, or his other brother, Amos, on Shaw's Creek. Chipping around edge of lid. A 1 3/4" flake to edge of lid, visible on underside. Diam. 4".
