Unlike almost every major auction house in the country, we handle our own shipping in-house. We understand how frustrating it can be to have to work with third-party shippers to have your objects delivered to you. Meanwhile, we also understand how important it is for you to receive your objects safely. We have over 40 years of experience safely packing antique ceramics. By default your invoice will include a shipping total via UPS Ground; you can also, of course, pick up objects at our gallery. Please feel free to contact us if you would like a quote. (A very few lots will have notes at the end of their descriptions letting you know that the object is too big or fragile for us to handle shipping ourselves.)

Rare Small-Sized Redware Jar with Elaborate Manganese Slip Decoration, attributed to David Mandeville, Circleville, NY, circa 1830, cylindrical jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and semi-rounded rim, decorated in manganese slip with scrolled X's around the body, diagonal slashes along the shoulder, and daubs around the rim. Includes unglazed redware lid, possibly original to the jar. The vessel's distinctive scrolled X motif leads to a firm attribution to Mandeville. This jar is the first Mandeville example of this size and cylindrical form that we have offered, as his jars are typically ovoid in form and much larger. Coupled with this rare form is exceptional coloration to the piece, featuring unusual reddish-brown slip work against a yellowish-orange body descending into a reddish-orange base. Wear to rim and a band of wear around inner rim for lid. Some light glaze wear to shoulder. Minor in-the-firing pings to surface. Lid with a few chips to knob. H (excluding lid) 5 3/4".
