Glazed Redware Jug, attributed to the Mottern Pottery, Carter County, TN, circa 1820-1860, ovoid jug with footed base, ribbed handle, and wide spout with flattened mouth, the midsection accented the two incised line. Surface covered in a lead glaze. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Three large circular in-the-firing contact marks around midsection. Two small base chips. A faint 1 1/4" line in spout on reverse. H 11".
