Glazed Redware Pitcher, TN origin, possibly Sullivan County, circa 1850-1880, ovoid-bellied pitcher with ribbed handle and tall, flaring collar accented with tooled lines, the surface covered in a lead-based glaze flecked with iron. Exhibited: Tennessee Turned, Earthenware and Stoneware Made in East Tennessee 1800-1900, Museum of East Tennessee History, May 16-October 30, 2011. Provenance: Originally found in the Roanoke area of Virginia. Wear to rim and spout. Additional rim chips. Wear to handle. An in-the-firing crack to upper handle terminal. Some surface wear to body of pitcher. Minor chipping to foot. H 11 1/4".
